About OHMEX Services

AT OHMEX, OUR AIM IS TO REDUCE THE COST AND THE CARBON FOOTPRINT OF OFFSHORE WIND.

Years of research and development for agile, adaptable and cost-effective turnkey solutions.

WHY OHMEX?

LET’S rethinK together the way we install

Over the last decade, offshore wind turbine sizes have grown significantly and up to a point where assets used to install them are not optimized anymore.

Offshore, rare and expensive XXL jack-up are spending precious time installing light blades with their 2000t+ capacity cranes.

At port, huge crawler and ring cranes, both very sensitive to wind, are used daily to assemble wind towers and are planned tomorrow to connect blades on floating wind turbines 150m above the quay.

With the offshore wind market growth that is coming, we urgently need to do things differently.

IN FEW WORDS

THE OHME PROJECT IN FEW WORDS

Mathieu AUPERIN

Managing Director

Ohme, the Offshore heavy maintenance enabler, has been invented in 2021 originally to repair a floating offshore wind semi submersible on site.

Soon afterwards, we’d realized that Ohme could be also very useful to the bottom-fixed offshore wind market, both on site and at port.

Offshore, with a Ohme, a standard offshore crane can go as high as the tallest offshore heavy lift crane and can therefore replace the latter for all the lifts within its capacity (blades, gearboxes…). Once retracted, its size is compatible with a medium size jack-up.

At port, the system is mobile, ballastable and above all, it can be operated up to 20m/s of wind speed (twice the limit of most onshore cranes): it is therefore never the cause of weather downtimes.
